Reasons for Hair Loss

The word ‘vertex’ comes from the Latin word meaning ‘top of the mountain,’ but when it comes to the human body it refers to the top of the head, otherwise known as the crown.

The crown is often one of the first areas of the head where hair loss occurs, and as it’s at the top, it’s usually very noticeable. Dr Mehta understands how much hair loss can affect your self-esteem and everyday life, and therefore how much a great hair transplant can change it for the better. So if you’re looking for the best vertex hair transplant Mumbai has to offer, you should contact the Malay Mehta Aesthetic Clinic today and book an appointment for an initial consultation.

There are many reasons that both men and women lose their hair, and it’s not just down to genetics. It can be caused by a number of factors, most of which are out of our control:

  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Alopecia
  • Weight loss
  • Stress/anxiety
  • Medical conditions
  • Hormonal changes
  • Genetics

What Is A Vertex Hair Transplant?

A vertex hair transplant specifically targets the crown of the head. It is usually carried out using either the Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) method or the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method.

With a FUT transplant, a strip of hair follicles is removed from an area of thick hair and transplanted to the crown. The FUE method involves grafting individual hair follicles before transplanting them on the vertex.

Both methods are very successful and are proven to facilitate hair restoration. Dr Mehta, your hair transplant surgeon, will discuss with you in your initial consultation which method would be best for you.

How Is The Vertex Hair Procedure Carried Out?

Just with traditional hair transplant surgery, the vertex procedure is carried out in 2 main phases:

  • Graft harvesting
  • Graft hair transplantation

Whether other hair transplant methods are used, the procedure is carried out using these simple steps:

Step 1 – Graft Harvesting

Hair follicles are carefully removed from the donor area. They are either removed individually using a specialist tool or in a small strip using a scalpel. The number of grafts needed for the hair transplant will depend on the size of the area that is being treated.

Step 2 – Hair Transplanting

Tiny incisions are made in the treated area and the grafts are then carefully inserted. The follicles are inserted in the direction and angle of the natural hair in order to give a completely natural look.

Am I the right candidate for a vertex hair transplant procedure?

Even though vertex hair transplant surgery has a very high success rate it’s not always suitable for everyone. Successful procedures are determined by a number of different factors, including whether you have healthy hair growth in other areas to act as the donor’s hair.

Typically though a good candidate is:

  • Suffering from bald spots or thinning hair on specific areas of the scalp
  • Looking to restore hair on the crown area of your head
  • Looking for a long term solution to the hair loss problem

The best way to find out if a vertex hair transplantation is right for you is to contact us today to book an initial consultation with Dr Mehta. He will be able to answer any questions you may have and determine whether or not you’re a good candidate.
