What is an eyebrow transplant?

An eyebrow transplant procedure is performed by a cosmetic surgeon. It is a permanent solution to patchy, thinning eyebrows. The procedure involves extracting hair follicles from one area of your body and transplanting them to your eyebrows. This results in fuller, more defined eyebrows, without having to use makeup products every single day.

Am I a good candidate for an eyebrow transplant in Mumbai?

If you are generally in good health and have realistic expectations for the procedure, then you are a good candidate. Dr Malay Mehta offers a free consultation, during which he will assess your eyebrows and goals for the procedure to determine if you are an ideal candidate.

What is the eyebrow hair transplant process?

The process for an eyebrow transplant is very similar to a traditional hair transplant. We take hair from a donor area, such as the back of the head where the hair is thick, and transplant it to the eyebrow line.

Appointment

You will have an initial consultation with Dr Malay Mehta, where he will assess your eyebrows and discuss the procedure with you. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and ensure you understand all aspects of the surgery, recovery and aftercare.

The procedure

You will be given a local anaesthesia so you don’t feel any pain. We will then extract donor grafts (usually from just above your ears). These hair follicles are transferred with the hair intact to the eyebrows. The entire process is about 2 to 3 hours.

Recovery and aftercare

In the first few days you will have some scabbing around the brows and the donor area. After 3 to 7 days these scabs will start to fall off. At that time you may notice some redness, but that is completely normal. 2-3 weeks later, your transplanted hairs will start to fall out. This is normal and they will soon grow back thicker and fuller.

It is vital that you follow post-operative care instructions to ensure the eyebrow transplant is a success.

  • Don’t touch your eyebrows for 24 hours.
  • Use the saline follicle spray provided to promote healing.
  • After 24 hours use the specialist shampoo provided to wash your face and eyebrows.
  • Pat dry, don’t rub.
  • Don’t use makeup until your incisions have fully healed (about 2 weeks after the surgery).
  • Avoid direct sunlight for the first month.
  • Don’t pluck your eyebrows until at least 6 to 12 months after the surgery.

Risks and side effects of an eyebrow transplantation.

There is a very small risk of complications post an eyebrow transplantation:

  • Swelling
  • Nerve damage
  • Infection
    Excessive bleeding
  • Scarring
  • Bruising
  • Failure of the hair grafts

How much does an eyebrow transplant cost in Mumbai?
